Mike - PIDT is about conversations. The philosophy of the field has changed in the past and may change in the future. Professional identity , hardware specific - design specific, now what?
We did used to own the technology, now anyone can. Business, education and entertainment have all been blurred. We need to look at the definition again.
Tim - The AV part of our field was always our biggest cross to bear. It lead us into things that weren't equipment centric. Behavioral is learning theory. Behavioral objectives were not an outgrowth of behaviorism. When we do dichotomies we lose the cognitive areas.
Roger - PIDT is the closest thing to Okeboje (sp) to allow for sharing of ideas. When we have gone from correspondence courses of 30 years ago to web based how have we evolved? Are we really still basing things on some of the foundations? We still have to draw from the learning theory. Absolutely we have had a paradigm shift in the way we teach.
Annette - There are all these potential avenues in our field in the future. We need to sit down and consider what these will be. Many differnt fields coming together and how will they influence instructional design in the future.
