Course Syllabus
Description An introduction to the use of the
handheld computer as a classroom tool to aid in instruction.
A survey
of existing programs available to support courseware development and
use on computers. Hands on experience in developing an interactive
instructional lesson.
Statement of Prerequisites: EDMD 6313
Instructional Design and Product Development or consent of instructor.
Goals:
Students will Discuss various perspectives on handheld
instructional technology Identify standard uses of handheld
instructional technology
Define and use terminology regularly used with
handheld instructional technology
Discuss current research regarding
computers and handheld instructional technology
Create instructional
documents incorporating handheld instructional technology into the
classroom Prepare lessons for use in teaching in a handheld oriented
classroom
Create portfolio documents for inclusion in a handheld
oriented classroom
Rationale: Handheld instructional technology is
becoming commonplace society. This course addresses that need by
teaching students how to operate within a framework of handheld
instructional technology. Text All texts are online. There are several
optional texts.
